Philip is a partner in Prowse Barrette LLP and the leader of its litigation department. He specializes in commercial litigation, shareholder disputes, employment law, privacy, general litigation and he assists individuals who have been the victim of sexual assault. Philip studied accounting and finance at the University of Alberta and NAIT business schools and has experience in business operations. He offers straightforward legal advice to his clients and ensures that a goal-oriented litigation strategy gets results in line with all business objectives.
He was lead counsel on the groundbreaking decision in ES v Shillington, which established a new privacy tort in Alberta: the public disclosure of private facts. In a follow up to the decision he assisted another lawyer at Prowse Barrette LLP, Melissa Boyles, in obtaining substantial damages for a victim of revenge-porn in Grummett v Warholik.
Philip is a former member of the Canadian National Archery team, participating in world championships in Riom, France, and Beijing, China. He is also particularly proud of his first-place prize with a perfect score in a whiskey-tasting competition.
