2027–2028 Articling Student

Prowse Barrette LLP is a full-service law firm based in Edmonton, Alberta. For nearly 70 years, we have served Alberta clients across a broad range of legal matters, reflecting the strength of our client relationships, our collaborative firm culture, and our commitment to developing talented lawyers at every stage of their careers.

We are committed to providing articling students with meaningful, hands-on legal experience and mentorship as they begin their careers in the legal profession.

Our Student Program

Prowse Barrette hires a limited number of students each year to ensure that each student receives meaningful mentorship, exposure to client files, and direct access to our lawyers. Students work closely with partners and associates across a variety of practice areas and are encouraged to take initiative in their learning and professional development.

Many of our students have begun their legal careers with us early, returned for articling, and are now valued associates — a testament to our commitment to long-term development and mentorship.

Because we hire a limited number of students, our entire team is invested in providing mentorship, meaningful work, and guidance, helping each student thrive both professionally and personally during their articling experience.

Student Experience

Articling students can expect to:

  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda
  • Draft correspondence, pleadings, contracts, and other legal documents
  • Attend court applications, mediations, and client meetings
  • Assist lawyers with active files and client matters
  • Participate in firm meetings and professional development opportunities

Students receive mentorship and feedback from lawyers throughout their articling term and are encouraged to build confidence in their legal skills and professional judgment.
